About

Meet Meg!

I graduated from Veritas Academy, a private classical University-model school in Austin, in 2016. Veritas is a school that has a strong emphasis on teaching students to speak and write well, even expecting students to complete a thesis to graduate (I did mine on direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertisements). From there, I learned not just the basics of writing, but also how to write in classical-rhetorical form and organize my knowledge into meaningful arguments. I also used this knowledge to help many other students write their theses in following years.

After high school, I followed my passion for theatre and education by attending Texas State University. At Texas State, I was an active member of the honor society Phi Kappa Phi, the theatre honors fraternity Alpha Psi Omega and I was Vice President of the campus ministry organization Every Nation Campus. I could often be found making connections in the quad, reading plays with my fellow theatre educators, attending writing workshops in the Honors College lounge, or sitting in on presentations with the Philosophy Department's Dialogue Series.

Alongside my major in Theatre, I also had the opportunity to double minor in both Religious Studies as well as Honors Studies. This gave me the opportunity to take many exciting writing-intensive classes where I got to conduct research I was passionate about, even presenting my research on the mummification of Buddhist monks in Japan and Taiwan at the First Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Student Research Symposium.

In the summer of 2018, I studied abroad with Shakespeare in England. I studied Shakespeare's text and context in Stratford-Upon-Avon with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust, and Shakespearean Performance at Shakespeare's Globe in London. Seeing the innovative ways Shakespeare is being taught in the United Kingdom also sparked a passion in me for revolutionizing the way that Shakespeare is being taught here in the US. This led to my passion project and Honor's Thesis, The Playing's The Thing: Teaching Shakespeare Through Performance and Play.

After college, I co-wrote a few screenplays and gained enough real-world teaching experience to realize I enjoy teaching a lot more without all of the red tape that comes with the current public education system. I currently reside in Dallas, TX where I manage a Boba Tea shop, write often, and pursue more knowledge every day.

I've read 222 books so far this year.
